Nakayabashi – Logical Prime Notebook

Logical Prime Notebook

I recently came across the Logical Prime Notebooks by Nakayabashi. To begin with, they are premium quality notebook with high-quality paper and is made in Japan.
Nakayabashi has series of Logical Prime Notebooks which can be found here: LINK

I received these notebooks from Makoba Pens Store and these notebooks are directly available with them at their web-page.

DISCLAIMER: I was not compensated in forms of any means for this post and review. All the views and opinions are personal and unbiased.

The notebook has a unique Wire Binding at the top and the bottom and in the middle, there is no wire binding.

The binding quality is undoubtedly Top Notch and suits the slim 50-page Nakayabashi notebooks.

Like many Japanese notebooks, this product is also minimalist in the form Design with softcover in muted colors which look like 100 – 120 gsm cardboard.

Its Slim, minimalist and premium Notebook

As I have mentioned earlier and I believe most of us all know that the quality of paper as far as using with the fountain pen is concerned is dependent on a lot of parameters like ink resistance, shading, sheen, feathering, bleed-through, paper color, smoothness or texture, and few others. Few properties are also dependent on ink properties like shading and sheen.

Except for one ink which I think might have been contaminated the notebook paper performed very very well.

The notebook comes in various sizes and patterns and the ones that I had for review were A5 and B5 size. The notebooks are available in ruled, dotted, and square Grid patterns.

The writing paper is 75gsm premium smooth quality paper and you can feel the quality when you touch the paper. Unlike the Muji paper which is smooth on one side and has textured finish on the other side. Also, the color of the paper is Natural White and not super white.

Below are the few images of the samples of different inks on the paper:

As it is clear from the above images the ink except the Diamine Turquoise performed well and that ink also was contaminated as I left some water inside the converter.

Below is the image of the rear side of the paper after writing:

As you can see from the above images the notebook fared very well in most of the parameters. It is a good paper and very good at resisting most of the ink. It is really good for Sheening inks and Shimmering inks. Even Noodlers Tiananmen gave a nice little sheen.

Also few more things to note is that the finish of the priniting is amazinh on the paper and every paper at top has ribbon to mention the date and content and page no.

There is almost no Bleed-through/Ghosting on the rear side and also there is no feathering too (except the contaminated Diamine Turquoise)

Performance summary is as follows:

  • Ink Resistance: High
  • Paper Colour: Natural White
  • Paper Texture: Smooth
  • Feathering: None
  • Bleed-through: Very less
  • Shading: High
  • Sheen: High

This A5 size is priced at INR 350 for 50 sheets (Rs. 7 per sheet) is actually on a higher-end price spectrum. But it is the premium notebook from Japan.

The B5 size is prices at INR 425 for 50 sheets.

There are some better-priced options available in the market with the likes of Rhodia and Endless Paper but you won’t get such a fine paper with the meticulous finish.

If you are looking for premium quality japanese notebook which can provide you sheen charatcter and is consistent look no further.

This can be bought from Makoba stores across India and also at the online store: MAKOBA
