INK REVIEW – KRISHNA BRONZE LEAF

In Indian Fountain Pen industry or Circles, Dr. Sreekumar is quite known for his hand-turned fountain pens and almost 20 types of nib tuning. However recently he has shelved in to making fountain pen inks under the brand name of KRISHNA.

I am really happy to see someone in India has taken initiative to standup and make good quality and non standard color Inks.

These inks are sold for Rs. 100 (1.5 USD) each for 30 ml ink bottle plus shipping.

The inks that are being produced are currently limited to 28 nos. :

  1. GOLD RUSH
  2. MEADOW GREEN
  3. BLUE MAGIC
  4. AFTER DARK
  5. SAPPHIRE BLUE
  6. LAKE BLUE
  7. BRONZE LEAF
  8. ORANGE CRUSH
  9. AUTUMN
  10. SINDHOOR
  11. GLORY VINE
  12. DARK ROSE
  13. NJAVAL
  14. WILD CHERRY
  15. PURPLE
  16. PEACOCK
  17. YELLOW VALLEY
  18. MELLOW BLUE
  19. VIVID VIOLET
  20. ORCHARD LILY
  21. DARK CHOCOLATE
  22. COOL BREEZE
  23. SILENT NIGHT SKY
  24. FORGET ME NOT

I would like to thank Dr. Sreekumar for sending me the samples and also for the effort that he has put in. I will be reviewing all one by one.

This review is about BRONZE LEAF ink from KRISHNA. And this is absolutely one of the top in my favourite ink category of Krishna Inks.

Krishna Ink – Bottle

Krishna Ink comes in plastic bottles in 30 ml quantity and I  have been told that the procurement for better quality plastic bottles or probably glass bottles is already under way. And I believe thats the right direction to move forward.

As you can see from images from above, ink is not at all waterproof.

  1. Vaibhav,

Firstly, I want to thank you for your blog. Awesome photography and very informative posts.

I got a set of 5 inks from Krishna Inks and Brown leaf is one of them. This is a beautiful ink. It shades well and the flow is also great.

  2. Great review Vaibhav! Unfortunately, it does not ship internationally on the Link site. Great shading as you have mentioned, kind of reminds me of the The du Lie from J Herbin inks, maybe a shade darker?

  3. Hi Vaibhav,

    That is a great review.
Will check them out on ebay. Not order now though, in summer.
Do you know if Dr.Sreekumar you mentioned sells his pens online?
Is the Airmail brand his? Or is it different?

    1. Dr. Sreekumar is a boutique pen and ink artisan… we do not call them manufacturer…. because he is an artisan …
Airmail is mass manufacturer of Wality or Airmail Pens ..and airmail is mumbai based firm…

      1. There is so less information available about Indian pens that it is difficult to know one from the other, just based on online presence. It is a very good thing you are trying to do by giving them some well deserved publicity. There is a growing market but Indian ‘artisans’ fall behind when marketing themselves.

  4. That listing has ended, drat!
Lovely ink IMO. It is first time I saw any Indian ink shade. Good job by Sreekumar & better job by you bringing it out in Wide Wild Web.
